If you are one of the 43 FWN Awardees who received an acceptance email that your abstract has been approved, we are now on Phase 3 of our book publishing process to meet our October 1, 2014 publication deadline. IMPORTANT - please take note:

Call for Volunteers for the SB 1193 Human Trafficking Community on April 5

Last week, the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women sent out 687 letters to businesses in San Francisco, informing them of their obligation under SB 1193 to post an anti-human trafficking notice, and included a copy of the poster.
Please join the department on April 5, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, as they fan out across the city to visit businesses and see whether the poster is up. Help spread the word about human trafficking and how businesses covered by SB 1193 can help. Filipino farmworkers' 1965 strike a pivotal moment in California

The new movie about Cesar Chavez hits theaters nationwide. Directed by Diego Luna, it covers the tumultuous early years of the United Farm Workers union and the legacy of one of the mos famous Mexican American civil rights leaders.

But one aspect of that story remains largely overlooked: The key role that Filipino farmworkers played in launching the 1965 grape strike in Delano that led to the birth of the United Farm Workers union. Read more.
