Filipina Women's Network is going GLOBAL! We’re officially launching the worldwide search for distinguished and accomplished Filipina women leaders who ARE influencing change and making change happen in their communities, their industries, their professions, in the world. Africa. North America. South America. Asia. Australia. Antartica. Europe.
Do you know a Filipina woman in any of these places?
We’ve been told that Filipina women have migrated to many parts of the world and we want to know who they are, what they’re doing and how they’re influencing their communities.
We need your help in our search for the Filipina women who are impacting their countries and their local communities with their work. We want to invite the Global100 to the Filipina Summit on October 25th this year to San Francisco.

FWN Internship Opportunity: The program is designed to provide students, recent graduates and motivated individuals seeking career development through involvement with the Filipina Women's Network (FWN) as well as an opportunity for increased learning of the programs and initiatives to advance the activities, careers and status of Filipina women in the United States.
The Internship Program lasts from six months to one year (for the cycle 2013-2014). The FWN Board will screen interested applicants to determine academic or personal interest in Filipino culture and women's issues, relevant experience and career development goals.
If you or someone you know is interested in the internship opportunity, please send resume with cover letter explaining why you qualify to Filipina@ffwn.org.
Experience with social media, technology, attention to detail, and a passion for social issues are preferred skill sets.

CONNECTING WITH YOUR PINAY ROOTS
As a kid, I
moved around quite a bit, but there's always at least one thing that always reminds me of each and every placed I have lived. When I was in kindergarten, I lived a cute neighborhood filled with young families with kids just like me who went to my elementary school. However, just a year shy of finishing my elementary school days, my family uprooted and moved to another city.
I'll always have those memories of living in that cute little neighborhood, but now in my twenties, I don't think of that time in my life too often. Recently, I was walking down the aisles of a home goods store, stopping frequently to gently sniff candles...and one candle in particular sparked my interest from its beautiful exterior. I removed the cap, and behold the beautiful smell of Jasmine flowers. The smell of the sweet flowers teleported me back to my jungle gym, swingin' sand box days, and right back to where my mom had planted the sampaguita by the front door of our old house in that cute neighborhood.
I remember my mom always picking the fallen Jasmine flowers on the cement floor just outside the front door of our house and placing them in a little glass dish on the table. I remember her sprinkling them on the counter in the bathroom, softly asking me, "Don't they smell good? These flowers are called sampaguita, or Jasmine."
If you didn't already know, the sampaguita is the national flower of the Philippines. The white, tiny, sweet-smelling flower is found natively in Asia and are very tough plants that can grow through abuse. These flowers are said to symbolize strength, purity, and simplicity. There is also a legend about sampaguita in the Philippines.
