What is the FWN Summit's Future Search Conference?

A Future Search is a gathering of a cross-section of widely diverse people who affect each other, but rarely or never meet.  Using many voices, FWN Members, our stakeholder groups, and our own process expertise, we have designed a different kind of conference.

This is a one-time event with everyone in the same room.  This is a process that will stimulate the membership and stakeholder groups to come together, to find common ground, to discover strong reasons to build community, make commitments and set a clear direction and actions to grasp opportunities that are available to us.

The conference will be creating a future vision for the Filipina Women's Network that emerges out of our understanding of where we've been, what's happening now, and the direction we want our organization to take.  The conference comes at a point in our history when we are ready to explore, as well as reconfirm our basic values, and generate a shared vision among our stakeholders.

Working through a carefully-designed format, we will together generate a comprehensive set of issues and opportunities, analyze data, and forge a common vision of how we want Filipina women to be perceived in the next generation.  In small groups, we'll develop and test ideas, examine the trends currently affecting us, and develop action plans for a future we choose -- rather than one to which we react.

Why

The purpose of the Future Search Conference is to bring together the collective energy and resources of the Filipino American Community and the larger community that supports the Filipina Women's Network to:

  • Create the realization of Filipina women in leadership positions in the U.S. workplace (nonprofit, government, corporate)
  • Envision One Future
  • Unify our history (100 years in America)
  • Build relationships and network
  • Appreciate our diversity
  • Have fun!
